Brandon Dawson (He/Him/His)

Brandon is an actor, educator, fighter, and choreographer based in Rock Hill, SC. He is on faculty at Winthrop University where he teaches various acting, movement, voice, and combat courses. He also serves as the fight choreographer for all shows affiliated with the university. Select credits include the Nevada Conservatory Theatre, where he served as a resident actor and fight choreographer, the touring production of Driving Miss Daisy with the Neil Simon Festival, and multiple productions with Shakespeare festivals across the South, most notably with Shakespeare in the Canyon and Palm Beach Shakespeare.

Brandon's belief in the ability to train actors to tell the totality of the human endeavor, both the good and the bad, is of paramount importance. That belief is made manifest in his desire to de-westernize and de-colonialize his instruction whenever possible, especially when it comes to movement training. His focus of research at the university is the combination of non-western movement styles, specifically the work of Tadashi Suzuki, with Early Modern and Classical texts. This combination also appears in his fight choreography, which is a blend of global techniques to tell the most fulfilling story.
