Brent Gibbs (He/Him/His)

Fight Director, Certified Teacher, Professor Emeritus at The University of Arizona

Brent currently serves as Professor Emeritus at the University of Arizona, where for many years he headed the Professional Actor Training program and served as the Artistic Director for The Arizona Repertory Theatre. At ART he directed over fifty productions including 21 different Shakespeare titles and served as Fight Director for over 81 productions over the years.  He holds the rank of certified teacher and fight director with the Society of American Fight Directors, and he also gained recognition as an Advanced Actor/Combatant by the Society of British Fight Directors and Fight Directors Canada. As a fight director his work has been seen on stages around the country including the Arizona Theatre Company, Kansas City Rep, Milwaukee Rep, San Jose Rep and the Guthrie Theatre among others.  As a certified teacher he has taught stage combat workshops around the world including the International Theatre School Festival in Amsterdam and the Istropoliana Project International Theatre Festival in Slovakia. In Arizona, he garnered an ariZoni Award for his fights in the Southwest Shakespeare Company's production of Henry V and in 2020 he was named an Arizona Arts Hero for his work as a director, fight director and educator.
