Jason Paul Tate (He/Him/His)

Vice President, Certified Teacher, Co-Founder Neutral Chaos, Co-Coordinator Tourist Trap

Jason Paul Tate is a director, choreographer, performer, and special effects designer originally from Kentucky and now based bi-coastally in New York City and San Diego. His work has been onstage at the Metropolitan Opera, the Public's Delacorte, and several downtown venues including Classic Stage Company, Ars Nova, Rattlestick, BAM, PAC-NYC, the Gene Frankel, and TheatreLab. His work has also appeared in the New York and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, and regionally at The Old Globe, American Repertory Theatre, Cleveland Playhouse, Tuacahn, the Ordway, Great Lakes Theatre, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, Havoc Movement Company, Kentucky Conservatory Theatre and at a number of the country's outdoor dramas including the Tony-Award winning The Lost Colony

As a guest instructor and professor, Jason has taught and choreographed productions for The New School, New York Film Academy, Hofstra University, Florida State University, the Asolo Conservatory, Coastal Carolina University, Austin Peay State University, University of Kentucky, University of Central Florida, University of North Carolina-Charlotte, Berea College, Transylvania University, Texas A&M University Corpus Christi and the University of North Carolina School for the Arts. 

A Certified Teacher with the SAFD, Jason has taught at the National Stage Combat Workshop, the Stage Combat Workshop at Louisiana Tech, the Summer Sling, the A-Town Throwdown, the Texas Intensive and the Lonestar Smash. He is also the co-founder of Neutral Chaos, LLC, a movement solutions company offering classes in New York City, and producer of the annual Tourist Trap Stage Combat and Stunt Workshop.

Jason is a proud member of the Stage Directors And Choreographers Society (SDC) and Actors' Equity Association (AEA). He is the outgoing Chair of the Movement & Physical Theatre Committee of the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) and serves as the current Vice President of the SAFD.
